The following message was given at Gateway Life Church in Chandler, Arizona.

Arise and Go Forward
After the death of Moses, God appeared to Joshua and challenged him to take the people forward into the Promised Land. There was, however, one huge problem: the Jordan was at flood stage and impossible to cross. God’s challenge to Joshua was to do the impossible – a challenge He extends to us today.

The following are messages I delivered at my church, Bethel Community Church.

Right Thinking About Riches
The thesis of this message is: When an individual or a society consistently obeys the principles of God’s Word, that person or people will generally and gradually increase in wealth. “Always remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you the power to make wealth, and He does it to fulfill the covenant He made with your ancestors.”

The Lord of the Things
The parable of the rich man’s steward who used worldly wealth to gain friends for himself (Luke 16:1-12) has a long history of confusion and misapplication. This message examines the eternal value of money, and the place it has in sanctification.

Divine Contentment
What is contentment? The dictionary defines it as complete satisfaction with what you have. But divine contentment is a little different from that. It combines satisfaction with a strong desire for achievement. Divine contentment is an ambitious contentment that is developed by understanding God’s Providence and God’s Process.

The Foundation Factor
The book of Proverbs says, “When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation.” This message examines three foundations necessary to survive the many storms in life: The Lordship of Jesus, Personal Responsibility, and The Fear of the Lord.

Faith Foundations - Part I
The writer to the Hebrews said, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him.” This message answers two important questions about faith: “Why Do We Need Faith?” and “What Is Faith?”

Faith Foundations - Part II
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” This message continues the discussion of “What Is Faith?” from Part I. It then answers the question: “How Does Faith Come?”

Faith Foundations - Part III
The Apostle Paul said, “Having the same spirit of faith, ‘I believed, therefore I spoke,’ we also believe, therefore also we speak.” This message asks three questions about the spirit of faith: “What Is It?” “How Do You Get It?” and “What Does It Say?”

Lessons From Narnia
This message examines several lessons we can learn about our spiritual enemy from the classic story by C.S. Lewis. It defines who our enemy is, and explains his three weapons of Temptation, Deception, and Isolation.

Refocus Your Priorities
The church at Ephesus had experienced great revival, miracles, outreach, and training during Paul’s three-year stay. But not many years later, they had lost their focus and had forsaken their first love. They looked so right on the outside, but were so wrong on the inside.

The following are a few of my favorite sessions from the Every Nation Leadership Institute.

The Life of Faith – Session Four

A person separate from Christ is a stranger to His covenants. But once he is joined to Christ, God’s covenants become his possession. But to appropriate these covenants, a man must know what they are and what they mean for him. This study concentrates on the covenant God made with Abraham and how that relates to the believer today.

The Church in History – Session One

This session explains the biblical view of history, and why it is important to study Church History. It then examines the Apostolic Church from 30 – 100 AD. Topics include: Preparation for the Church Age, The Jerusalem Conference, Persecution of the Church, and The Growth and Expansion of the Church.

Apologetics – Session One

This is an introductory session that explains what Apologetics is, and why it is important. It then looks at the apologetic strategy the Apostle Paul used when reasoning with the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers on the Areopagus.

The Church in America – Session One

This session covers the religious beginnings of the New World through the end of the seventeenth century. Some of the topics are the English Colonization of America, The Controversies in Puritan New England, and the Salem Witch Trials.

Worldviews: Postmodernism – Session Four

This session examines the Postmodernist rejection of the concepts of absolute truth and certain knowledge. It examines the roots of Postmodernism, its central tenets, and the significant thinkers who have contributed to its rise.
